Quick And Easy Mug Meals To Enjoy This Winter

When it’s cold outside, you crave warm, hearty meals, but the last thing you want to do is spend all day cooking when you could be curling up under a blanket. Well, look no further than your kitchen cabinet, because the key to quick and easy winter meals is as close as your coffee mug. With its sturdy handle and ample depth, you can fill it to the brim with a variety of portable dishes that let you cozy up to a delicious mug meal with maximum flavor and minimal labor or clean up! From breakfast to dinner—or even a late-night snack—your trusty mug will make you the master of your domain, so you can hibernate from kitchen duty till spring. Bake-Free Breakfasts

The most important meal of the day just became the most manageable by giving you a time-saving option for the start of your day. Eggs are a no-brainer. Crack a few yolks into a mug, whisk them, season to taste, and a two-minute trip in the microwave transforms those yellow yolks into a yummy soft scramble. You can also add in shredded cheese, chives, or sliced ham to kick the creativity up a notch.   For those times when you’re craving a morning muffin, but don’t want to bake a dozen (because you’ll eat a dozen), a single serving muffin is only 90 seconds away, soft and steamy like you just pulled it out of the oven. Simply combine flour, baking soda, sugar, coconut oil, milk, and fresh blueberries in a mug. Then hit the start button. Seriously, it’s that easy. Or, if French Toast is more your thing, add two tablespoons of butter to the bottom of a mug, and top with a whisked egg and splash of milk. Then pile it high with cubed bread and a sprinkle of cinnamon before setting the timer for two minutes. Voilà. Fluffy bursts of baked bread are ready for syrup or fresh berries. C’est magnifique!   Leisurely Lunches No need to labor over lunch when you can languish effortlessly with a multitude of mug-worthy options. Got leftover tortillas lying around? Crush them, line the bottom of your mug, and top with salsa, cracked egg, shredded cheese, and any other toppings you desire. In under two minutes, you’ve got a restaurant-worthy dish with no dishes to wash! Garnish with sour cream, hot sauce, or fresh cilantro, and your afternoon just got a spicy pick-me-up.

Soup and sandwich is the perfect lunchtime staple, and now you can prepare it in a single vessel. Just blend fresh tomatoes with olive oil, garlic, crushed red pepper, and chicken or vegetable stock (this step is made even easier thanks to the Thermomix®’s state-of-the-art mixing functionality), and pour into a mug for two minutes in the microwave to heat the mixture. Then top with a piece of crusty bread like a baguette or sourdough because they can stand up to the hot liquid. Smother the bread with Swiss (or any stretchy cheese of your choosing) for a quick jaunt in the broiler to melt it down to a gooey golden brown. BOOM! You’ve got the equivalent of tomato soup and grilled cheese, whose contents you can scoop out of a single cup. Some truly genius ideas were inspired by laziness, and this one tops the list.   DIY Dinners

Making dinner after a long day can be a daunting proposition, but it doesn’t have to be, because you’re a practically a professional mug chef at this point, right? So, let’s put those skills to the test with the ultimate comfort food—lasagna. Layers of carbs and cheese normally take hours of cooking and prep to infuse all those rustic flavors. But you can mimic that slow-cooked goodness in under 15 minutes from start to finish with a simple spinach and ricotta filling. Using fresh lasagna sheets that you just need to cut into squares to fit your mug, line each layer with a dollop of ricotta, chopped baby spinach, tomato sauce (or fresh plum tomatoes), and mozzarella cheese until you reach the top. Pop it into the microwave for two to three minutes and you’ve got spoon-ready sustenance without the fuss.   Another dish that typically benefits from slow cooking is rice. But since we’re all about big flavors with little time investment, give ‘Mug Fried Rice’ a shot. It will be ready in just three minutes. That’s right, pillowy puffs of rice are only a few rotations in the microwave away. Just whisk an egg, soy sauce, sesame oil, and onion powder in your mug, add in a cup of cooked jasmine rice, some frozen peas, chopped green onion, shredded purple cabbage, and a pinch of mung bean sprouts, and you’ve got flavorful fried rice in less time than it would take for the delivery guy to arrive.

A DIY Guide To Hosting A Fabulous Holiday Party Without Getting Stuck In The Kitchen All Night!

Hosting a holiday party can be a daunting task, but  doesn’t have to be. With just a little preparation and some help from your trusted Thermomix®, you can spend less time worrying and more time mingling with your guests. Check out some of our best tips for throwing a stress-free soiree! Making a (Guest) List And Check It Twice Whether you’re sending out digital invites, a group text, or old-fashioned invitations, you’ll want to get a headcount as early as possible. From there, you can figure out how many place settings you’ll need and how much food to prepare. Do a quick inventory to see if you have enough silverware, napkins, glassware and chairs. Is your party kid-friendly? Don’t forget to include them in your seating arrangements or set up the “kids table”. But First, Drinks. If you’re serving alcohol, guests will generally average one alcoholic beverage an hour, so plan accordingly. One bottle of wine equals about five or six servings (depending on who’s pouring), so six bottles is a great jumping off point for a dozen people for dinner. If you want to serve liquor, pick one type and mix it into a signature cocktail. We really like this Warm Caramel Spice Martini. And of course, offer up some seasonal non-alcoholic selections, like sparkling water with a little cranberry juice or hot apple cider.  Make room to store anything that needs chilling, and don’t forget to load up on ice to chill wine, water and Champagne. Hot tip: If guests ask if they can bring anything, you can always suggest a bottle of something for the bar! Set the Mood With Music And Decor Pick a festive playlist like Holiday HitsChristmas Jazz, or this New Year’s Eve one from Spotify. Use the twinkly lights from your Christmas tree (or hang a few strands of lights) as the central lighting for your evening, and supplement with tea candles and table lamps. Tabletops can be spruced up with simple evergreen or olive leaf garlands for an elegant, Instagram-worthy decor. If you’re having a plated, sit-down dinner, place cards and napkin rings are a thoughtful touch, as well. Keep The Food Flowing You’ll want to make sure there is something to eat for guests as they arrive, and keep it going from there. A cheese platter and colorful vegetable tray are excellent choices to start, as are perennial favorites like Spinach Artichoke Dip or Hummus and crackers. For a simple yet impressive appetizer that goes well with cocktails or beer, try your hand at these Spicy Cheese Straws. For main dishes, use the Thermomix® to conjure up traditional winter favorites like Beef Bourguignon or Roast Beef, served alongside mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables. Crowd-pleasers like Lasagna or Meatballs with Tomato Sauce can also be served family style, eliminating the need for fancy plating. If you prefer individual dishes, this quick recipe for Cheese Souffles makes six single servings that can be served alongside a seasonal salad or roasted vegetables. Make Dessert Self-Serve If you’re having a sit down dinner, you can certainly pick one dessert to plate up for your guests like this Chocolate Pudding recipe. But for a tantalizing display that you can set up in advance, plan a dessert buffet with an assortment of cookies and sweets, letting guests serve themselves as they please. Load up the table with Pistachio Cranberry BiscottiPeppermint Frost Chocolate Cookies, and Panforte, and serve with a side of coffee or a carafe of hot chocolate (option to top with these Gingerbread Marshmallows). Relax, And Enjoy Your Party No one wants to see their host stressing out, so don’t worry about getting it Martha Stewart-perfect. Once the appetizers are out and the music is on, your guests will find ways to entertain themselves as you finish up in the kitchen. Thermomix® makes it possible for you to enjoy some face time with your guests without having to stand watch over the stove, while your dish is cooking. So grab a glass of wine and mingle! For more recipes to entertain, unlock your FREE 30-Day Cookidoo® Trial here!

5 Grilling Essentials for Your Summer BBQ

Memorial Day kicks off the season of grilling with everything from burgers to vegetables taking a trip across a hot grill for that smoky summer flavor. To achieve the best flavors and results, we’ve rounded up the five most important tools every grill master should have for a successful summertime soiree. We’re also sharing a crowd-pleasing hamburger recipe – complete with garlic mayonnaise and grilled red potato wedges – developed by the Thermomix® recipe kitchen. Bookmark this page and gear up for your best BBQ ever.   Stock Up on Spatulas and Tongs Whenever you’re dealing with an open flame, you want to keep your hands far away from the heat, so a good set of spatulas and tongs is priority number one. Be sure to reach for long-handed tools that let you flip and remove your meats from a distance. But different meats require different tools. Delicate fish needs to be flipped with a spatula; burgers, steaks and kabobs can be handled with tongs; and chicken and chops should be stabbed with a fork for ease of movement while also unlocking steam and juices, which means you’ll need one of each depending on what you’re grilling. Typically, you can buy these tools as a set, and if you’re looking for an all-in-one gadget, the Stingray 7-in-1 BBQ tool is the Swiss Army Knife of spatulas that incorporates all three. Whichever you choose, Grilling Expert, Steven Raichlen, recommends always opting for stainless steel accessories “to stand up to the fire, smoke, and easy cleanup.”   Baste Like a Pro To achieve maximum flavor on chicken, steaks, and vegetables, you’ll want to invest in a good basting brush to spread marinades, butter, oil, and other sauces on your meat as it cooks on the grill. Cook’s Illustrated tested a variety of brushes, and suggests using a silicone basting brush over boar’s hair, which is “more durable and can withstand high heat.” The other benefit of silicone is an even distribution of liquids across all of the nooks and crannies of your beef and chicken without spilling out onto the grill. Like with spatulas, handle length is another important element when selecting the ideal brush. “We found that 12 inches was just about perfect,” notes Cook’s Illustrated, “any shorter and our hands got too close to the heat; any longer and we sacrificed control.” Also, best to avoid plastic handles altogether, which are at risk of melting if they come in contact with the grill. Once you’ve got yours picked, give our Barbecue Butter a try from our BBQ Boosters Collection, which is a tasty addition to everything from chicken to corn or melted on baked potatoes to infuse it with some savory BBQ flavor from the pan drippings.       Brush Debris Away As important as your basting brush is to evenly cook and flavor your food, a grate brush is even more critical for keeping your grill clean once you’re done using it to prevent caked on debris from forming. Many opt for wire brushes that effectively remove dried sauces and meat fats, but there are also wood brushes you can use to scrape your grill while it’s still warm so the shape of your grates forms in the wood for an even closer cleanup every time. Freelance journalist, author, and home grilling enthusiast Steven John warns that the first time you use a wooden brush to scrape away the grime and gunk build up on your grill grates, “it’s not going to be very effective [but] stick with it! Soon enough, this clever, paddle-shaped wooden tool will be the best grill scraper your grill has ever experienced, because it will adapt to fit the exact width and placement of your grill’s bars.”   Taking the Right Temp A meat thermometer is a grill master’s best friend to ensure your meats are cooked to perfection. We recently partnered with MEATER®, the first truly wireless smart meat thermometer, for this foolproof Smart Grilling recipe collection. MEATER+ let’s you step away from the grill to prepare sides or cocktails without having to worry about overcooking your food. With easy monitoring via your smartphone, MEATER® helps you grill with precision whether you’re a novice or seasoned griller to achieve optimal results every time. And combined with the revolutionary technology of the Thermomix®, you can take your BBQ to the next level this year.   Suit Up Grilling aprons are more than just a fun fashion accessory bearing catch phrases like ‘Kiss the Cook.’ They protect against heat, hot oil splashes, and keep all of your grilling tools handy for ease of access while you’re managing multiple meats. Opt for one that’s a durable, heavyweight material but can be machine washed. Max Lavoie, BBQ Guru and Co-founder of House of BBQ Experts, recommends reaching for an apron that has “at least 4 pockets to safely house multiple tools and a towel loop to wipe your hands and clean up messes on the go.” Need more inspiration? Eater rounded up these chef recommendations for the best aprons for cooking.   Now that you’re suited up and ready to grill, download this mouthwatering recipe for Burgers with Red Potatoes and Garlic Mayonnaise and add a MEATER+ and 10 foolproof grilling recipes to your summer entertaining arsenal with the Smart Grilling Culinary Collection.

Restaurant-Quality Meals At The Touch Of A Button, Plus Special Financing

Food is the great unifier. We love eating it, anticipating it, looking at beautiful photos of it, and browsing menus of it. But cooking it can sometimes be a bit tricky. Our homemade dishes never seem to mirror those we see on a food competition show or the perfectly plated ones that are set down in front of us at a fancy restaurant. That being said, going out to eat seven days a week isn’t a very cost-effective option, nor is enrolling in a culinary academy to become a master chef.

But thanks to technology, the world’s smartest countertop sous chef can help you create restaurant-quality meals at the touch of a button as quickly and beautifully as a contestant on Chopped. Used by top chefs around the world, the Thermomix® is designed to take the guesswork out of cooking, so you can achieve the best results every time—even if you walk away from the device! That’s because the Thermomix® keeps track of the cooking process, and alerts you when it’s time for the next step or ingredient, so you don’t have to worry about missing a step or overcooking your meal. So go ahead and answer that e-mail because the Thermomix® has got you covered.

Performing the functions of 12 commonly used appliances, the Thermomix® weighs, cooks, chops, crushes, emulsifies, whips, mixes, steams, blends, kneads, grinds, simmers, grates and mills, replacing virtually every other gadget in the kitchen. It is designed and manufactured by Vorwerk with the ultimate tech in German engineering, producing a machine that’s not only sturdy and reliable, but built to last. And the speed and ease of using the Thermomix® make cooking from scratch a breeze, allowing you to steer clear of processed foods, and deliver in favor of fresh, healthy ingredients.

5 Steps To A Feng Shui Kitchen

You’ve probably heard of Feng Shui, the ancient art and science of spatial planning to balance energy flow and harmonize a space. The words “Feng” and “Shui” are translated as “wind” and “water”, two forces that are linked to good fortune and health in Chinese culture. Having good Feng Shui is said to support positive energy in every area of your life, from wealth to health, romance to career, and everything in between. In this practice, the kitchen is considered one of the three most significant areas of the home. The Chinese believed that the space where food is created is where one would be able to deeply affect the health and prosperity of a family. Besides providing actual nourishment, the kitchen is commonly a gathering place where family members connect and share with each other, so the energy of this space is especially important. If you’re looking to make your kitchen a more abundant and energetic place, follow these five tips from Feng Shui expert Dana Claudat. It’s What’s In Your Fridge And Pantry That Count  “The most important thing for a kitchen no matter what it looks like is the very basic idea that it’s full of food that’s consciously chosen and nourishing,” says Claudat. Forgotten produce, heavily processed foods, and items that don’t make you feel good when you eat them are all items that can mess with the energy in the kitchen, as well as your own energy. Keep It Clutter-Free  Decluttering the kitchen is extremely important,” says Claudat.  “Clutter in the kitchen makes cooking and eating more difficult and even stressful.” It’s not just countertops that need to stay clean either. Take a look at all of your kitchen appliances and make sure that they’re in working order. Never use your food processor? Consider getting rid of it. Are your drawers full of gadgets that you don’t need? Clear out the extra and make space for better energy flow. If you’re in the market for new appliances, multi-tasking machines like the Thermomix® can help save counter space by replacing devices like a stand mixer, blender, steamer, food processor, and kitchen scale (to name just a few). Make It Personal Claudat notes a lack of personalization is a very common issue she sees in kitchens. “There’s no art on walls, there’s no special touches,” she notes. “Things like refrigerator magnets and drawers become catch all areas because there’s a prevalent idea that kitchens are what they are, and there’s not much one can do. Adding (these) touches all help to create a more powerful energy in the space.”  She suggests using plants and fresh flowers for extra energy and an emotional lift, or fresh citrus in bowls for a burst of invigoration. Hang a poster or less precious piece of art and make the space feel like your own. Find Strength At The Stove All kitchens function best when you feel you’re in a powerful position at the stove,” emphasizes Claudat. “For example, if your back is to the entrance of the kitchen as you cook, you’re not in a most powerful position.” To remedy this, she suggests adding a mirror or reflective metal cladding to help you see behind you as you cook. With a moveable device like the Thermomix®, you can pick your optimum position in the kitchen for food preparation and cooking. Add A Natural Element (Or Several)   Claudat strongly suggests adding items like stone, greenery, and ceramics in order to stay grounded and balanced.  “A wooden fruit bowl, even a crystal, can be a great way to add more nature elements,” she says. While color can play an important role in how you feel when you’re in a space, Claudat doesn’t believe in picking colors to satisfy a rule. When it comes to decor and accessories, she says, “They are best when they are in harmony with what you like.” Thermomix® lets you cook an entire meal for your family without making a mess of your newly feng shui kitchen. Book a demo today!

The Biggest Food Trends Of 2018

As 2018 comes to a close, we’re taking a look back to reflect on four ways that food has shaped our lives this year and how Thermomix® fits into the ever-evolving culinary landscape.

A Foodie Is Born

If you have a favorite celebrity chef  like our Chef Partner Tom Hollingsworthfollow multiple food accounts on Instagram or YouTube, or indulge in a little culinary television, you’re probably a “foodie,” and you’re not alone. More than ever, food media has inspired people to cook at home, as well as experiment with new and unusual ingredients. From baking bread to mixing up homemade marinades, food lovers are quickly teaching themselves how to recreate the foods they’ve seen on restaurant menus and on screen.

Playing with exotic ingredients and flavors is part of the fun. You may catch hardcore gastronomes, while dabbling with truffles, imported cheeses, foraged herbs or obscure spices. And if you’re not perfectly confident in your ability to master a dish, cooking with the Thermomix® ensures you get it right every single time, which means you won’t end up wasting ingredients or efforts.

Understanding That Health is Wealth

Green smoothies, medicinal Mushrooms, avocado oil—are these foods on your radar? If they are, it’s because this year has seen a rise in the attention paid toward nutrition and its role in wellness. From the proliferation of superfood products to a shift toward whole foods with lower salt, MSG, and sugar, functional foods (foods with a purpose) are here to stay. More people are looking closely at what exactly goes into their food, and often times, opting to make healthier versions of their favorite things at home, in order to avoid artificial additives, preservatives, and the like.

Thermomix® along with its online recipe portal, Cookidoo®, allows users to have full control over their diets at any life stage. New parents can cook their own organic baby food with confidence. Athletes can create protein-packed smoothies for a meal replacement or workout recovery (and at a fraction of the cost of what you’d purchase at a trendy smoothie shop). And making nutritious meals like fish and vegetables, collagen-rich bone broth, or heart-healthy oatmeal becomes effortless.

Helping International (Food) Relations

Asian cuisine has been hot in the food scene for some time now, thanks to advocates like Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese Food, David Chang of Momofuku, Roy Choi of Kogi, and even the late Anthony Bourdain, who often showcased street food as part of his travels throughout Asia. Inspiration has proven to be a two-way street, and a recent survey has found that chefs and home cooks in China have begun to explore Western foods and crossing them with Chinese ingredients and sauces.

It can be risky, but the result is often something unique and surprisingly satisfying, like Chicken Tikka Masala on noodles or Kung Pao pizza. The Thermomix® is a perfect vehicle to explore culinary fusion, as it lets you add your own twist to authentic recipes that have been created and tested by developers from around the world. If you’re inspired to add sriracha and sesame oil to your version of Bolognese or Korean gojuchang to Tinga de Pollo, we say, go for it. It might be the next ramen burger!

Disconnect To Connect Over A Meal

Technology allows us to be connected no matter where we are. But the fact is, we actually spend less time face-to-face with other people. We’re also busier than we’ve ever been, so it’s not unusual to scarf down breakfast in the car or wolf down lunch while working at the computer.  Much of modern culture leaves us rushed and stressed, with more people having to schedule time to “disconnect,” in order to mentally and emotionally reset themselves. One of the easiest places to unplug is at the dining table.

Let your Thermomix® do the multi-tasking for you, and use it to cook up quick and stress-free meals like this Thai Chicken Curry, which you can enjoy, while sitting at a dinner table. Whether you’re hosting friends or simply taking the time to eat as a family, eating together helps you connect and share your life with others—a much more fulfilling way to interact than via social media or instant messenger.

Dietitians’ Tips for Winter Food Shopping & Prep

The days of abundant vegetable gardens and outdoor farmers’ markets may have come to an end, but that’s no excuse to stop eating healthy! In fact, there are many flavors that reach their peak after the season’s first frost! ’Tis the season for kale, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and citrus fruits shipped in from warmer climes. We asked several registered dietitian nutritionists to share their top tips for food shopping and meal prepping during the winter season. Focus on In-Season Produce While winter produce may seem less enticing than the bounty of summer, there are still plenty of seasonal goodies to be found in the produce department. Wendy Kaplan, MS, RDN, CDN says, “Even though there’s less fresh produce around, try to buy and eat seasonally. Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, collard greens and root vegetables are delicious, healthy options. Roast them with herbs and spices, sauté them with beans, throw them into soup, and more.” Carrie Gabriel, MS, RDN echoes that sentiment. She says, “Focus on what is season, including butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and onions, and hone your batch cooking skills. Roast a large tray of vegetables with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper, and add the leftovers to salads for lunch the next day or reheat them and combine with cooked quinoa for a hearty side dish.” You can use your Thermomix® to make the most of seasonal winter vegetables. Swap in seasonal veggies on this Roasted Vegetable Pizza, or try this Roasted Cauliflower and Kale Soup featuring two of winter’s star veggies. Stock Up on Canned and Frozen Produce There’s nothing wrong with turning to canned tomatoes or frozen berries when the fresh ones in the market look less than stellar. Elizabeth Ward, MS, RD, says “Stock up on canned and frozen fruits and vegetables to make quick meals and snacks. My kitchen cabinets are packed with different types of canned beans, tomatoes, pumpkin, pineapple, and pears. I also keep frozen peas and corn on hand, and wild blueberries, cherries, and peaches in the freezer for smoothies and healthier desserts.” This delicious Vegetarian Chili made in your Thermomix® makes the use of canned beans and tomatoes for a hearty winter meal. Warm Up With Soup When it’s too cold to eat salad, get your daily servings of veggies in with soup! Diane Norwood, MS, RD, CDE, says “Hearty soups are my favorite winter food. They are all-in-one balanced meals and quick to get on the table, even during the week. Plus, you can make a big batch to reheat or freeze for leftovers.” Thermomix® makes making soups easy with vegetable soups you can get on the table in less than 30 minutes, such as Butternut Squash and Apple SoupCreamy Mushroom Soup, and Creamy Tomato Soup. Cook Once, Eat Twice Sarah Anzlovar, MS, RDN, LDN says, “I’m all about the cook once, eat twice (or more!) strategy, and winter foods lend themselves well to this, because they tend to store well and freeze well. Cook up a soup, stew, or oatmeal on a Sunday, and have it for the week or freeze leftovers for later on. Double or triple a recipe for larger families, because it’s not really double the work and you’ll thank yourself later!” Try whipping up a big batch of Oatmeal or Apple and Pear Hot Cereal in your Thermomix® for a warming breakfast you can eat all week. Back To School Breakfast & Snack Ideas To Keep Your Kids Energized

School’s in session, and that means sluggish starts to the day as your kids try to hold on to what’s left of their summer vacation. But putting a spring in their step and getting them ready to learn can be as simple as picking the right protein-rich meals and snacks! A trick to turning mornings from mayhem to manageable is meal planning. The Thermomix® makes this a snap by allowing you to browse recipes, and drop your favorites in a calendar to plan out the week. It can even organize and e-mail you shopping lists, so you can keep track of everything you need. Then, when you’re ready to cook, the recipe is right at your fingertips. It’s like having your own personal assistant keeping a close eye on everything. Now, only if you could get it to do the laundry! For energy and alertness, you’ll want to reach for breakfast foods that stimulate the brain. According to NPR, a better breakfast can boost a child’s brain power. So steer clear of sugary cereals, pastries and pancakes. Better to save those for Saturday morning treats. It’s always tempting to just grab a Pop Tart or muffin to save time, but that could lead to your kids hitting a wall by lunch, and feeling lethargic for the rest of the day. Instead, center your meals around the following stimulating foods to sustain your kids from homeroom to last period. Read on for a roundup of recipes, and check out this Back To School Breakfast downloadable primer on how to get started with invigorating breakfasts, fun snacks, and healthy homemade meals that will boost your family’s energy and your free time. Breakfast Brain Boosters Eggs The vitamin choline in eggs helps our bodies produce more memory cells. It’s also a great source of protein, and will curb hunger till lunchtime. Try this simple soft scrambled egg recipe that cooks up perfectly fluffy eggs, virtually hands free, in under 10 minutes using your Thermomix®. Oatmeal The healthy fiber in oatmeal will keep your kids full and satisfied so they can focus on schoolwork. But avoid instant packs, which are loaded with sugar and artificial flavors. Opt for toppings like fresh berries, honey, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for sweetness. Homemade oatmeal is a cinch using the Thermomix®, and can be stored in pre-portioned containers for busy mornings when you need something to just grab and go. Yogurt Yogurt is the MVP of nutrition, as it’s loaded with calcium, protein and the amino acid Tyrosine, which improves memory and alertness. Pop quiz in Math? Your kids will have it covered. Also, according to Dr. Sears, yogurt can help boost the immune system, which is a welcome bonus amidst the bevy of germs your children are exposed to every day. Pick up some kid-friendly yogurt cups and call it a day. You can also blend yogurt with fresh fruits and nuts into a smoothie for a mega shot of protein that will last till the final school bell rings. Berries Blueberries and strawberries in particular are high in vital antioxidants to aid in brain function. They’re also a quick and easy option for hectic mornings. Pop them in the Thermomix® to whip up an eye-opening smoothie bowl, or mix them into oatmeal or yogurt for a double boost of brain benefits. Whole Wheat Toast Whole wheat bread is an excellent source of fiber and folate, which helps manufacture memory cells. Serve it with mashed avocado for fats that fuel the brain. Spread on some peanut butter to add heart healthy fats and protein. Or, if you can get your kids to eat chia seeds, which are frothed with omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, iron and calcium, a teaspoon of them atop fresh strawberries and ricotta will kick their morning routine up a notch. Snacks For Sustenance And Health As the mid-day meltdowns kick in, you can keep your kids operating at maximum capacity with some simple snacks they can nosh on to curtail the groans of “When’s dinner?”  Here they are. Fruit Roll Ups Instead of store-bought roll ups, high in sugar and often unpronounceable ingredients, you can make a batch at home in a flash with fresh fruit puree using the Thermomix®. This allows you to choose flavors you know your kids will enjoy. Best of all, you can prepare them in advance, so your kids can reach for them all week long. Carrots Carrots are an excellent source of beta-carotene, fiber, vitamin K, potassium and antioxidants, and have also been linked to lowering cholesterol and promoting eye health. But your kids may want something a little more exciting than baby carrot sticks to satisfy their hunger. So, try transforming them into a hummus they can scoop up with pita chips or pretzels. It’s also a great way to sneak in some apple or other veggies disguised as a tasty treat. You can do all this from Thermomix® to table in under 15 minutes. Good job, Mom. Granola Granola is another multi-faceted food chock full of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats to keep kids focused on their homework, while the cooking commences. But stay away from pre-packaged options with chocolate chips and marshmallows that are more like candy bars. A bowl of healthy oats and nuts is the perfect afternoon snack for curbing hunger without feeling full. Store them in plastic cups in the cupboard for easy access, while you keep an eye on dinner. In addition to keeping your kids satisfied from the start of the day through snacktime, the Thermomix® can help you create elaborate menus for every night of the week from a simple salmon dish to palazzo-worthy chicken pizza. Don’t worry. You don’t need a culinary degree to dominate these dishes. Just pop in the ingredients, press and go. The guided touch screen will take it from there, so you can wear one of your many other hats: hero.
